The tennis team really served up the competition during the 2016 season that ended with players Marley Schultz, Lauren Karolewicz and Liz Towell qualifying for state.

This season the team came out with 8 wins and 4 losses. The players with the best record were doubles partners Anna Carlson and Ava Mandele. Tennis coach and math teacher Tim Larsen said they did better than expected, however he thought they could have done a little better at sectionals. He also wishes that more girls would have made it to the state conference.

“We did better than I thought we would. We didn’t really do well at the [sectionals] conference. This season wasn’t spectacular, but it was good,” Larsen said.

The girls really enjoyed themselves this season and can’t wait for next season and all the opportunities that come with it.

The KHS tennis team had three players total make it to the state conference. Although not many girls made it, they still had a great time.

“I had so much fun at state. I loved spending time with my team,” said senior Lauren Karolewicz.

Overall, Larsen thinks the girls are doing great and is excited for next season.

“For next year, I want to keep our work ethic. They are talented girls. If they keep working hard to be the best they are going to be a good team,” Larsen said.
