Cross Country teams fall short of state

The IHSA Sectional Cross Country Meet took place at Kaneland High School on November 1.

As a whole, the Kaneland Girls Cross Country Team finished in sixth place, meaning that they were just one place away from making it to state. Although the team did not qualify for state, junior Brianna Bower individually qualified for the IHSA State Cross Country meet.

“I’m really excited to go down again,” Bower said.

Bower had a time of 18:11:1, which allows her to travel to Peoria next Saturday.

“I’m happy, it was the best time I got this season,” Bower said.

Senior Aislinn Lodwig came in 39th, with a time of 18:52.

“It was a good season, I was happy with the freshmen and how well we got along as a team, it’s sad were not going to state,” said Lodwig.

Senior Victoria Clinton placed 27th in the race.

All seven of the girls who participated in the race finished strong with their personal best times.

The Kaneland Boys Cross Country Team finished out the day only eight points away from qualification for state.

Although none of the boys made it to state, top runners in the boys team included junior Austin Kintz, Matthew Richtman and Brandon Park. Kintz placed 16th, Richtman came in 17th place and Park finished in 24th place.
