College stress is almost considered a phase in every young adult. It could be stress and worries from moving from home, finding the right college or it could even lead to the stress of having a nice, well-put-together dorm room. Having a good dorm environment during one’s college stay is a necessity to many young adults, and this is a guide to a perfect dorm room with decorative ideas, small space storage solutions and bedding basics for a dorm room makeover.
Choose heavily-textured fabrics for bedding and headboards because they hide dirt and disguise stains. Experts advise purchasing two quilts with a washable layer of sheets underneath since dorm occupants have little control over the room’s temperature. Additional bedding also separates sleeping from lounging activities.
Do laundry in style
Remember to bring a nifty laundry bag or basket for transporting laundry to the central facility. Suggestions include a laundry bag in lieu of a basket because it’s stylish and easy to carry. In addition, laundry bags may be suspended from closet doors or bedposts which saves coveted floor space.
Add to dorm lighting
Lighten up; a fluorescent fixture attached to the ceiling of your dorm is the primary source of lighting. These are found in most typical rooms on campus. One can eliminate the need for any harsh, overhead lighting and provide a softer glow by placing small desk lamps or task lighting within the space available.
Using multi-purpose furniture
Recommendations are reutilizing the dresser’s top as a vanity to maximize space. Check to see if a college provides a wall-mounted mirror. If not, placing a sturdy-framed mirror above the dresser will do just the trick.
Assemble quick and easy curtains
Drapes bring pattern, texture and color to any space. Suggestions are that suspending fabric from curtain rings with clips from a decorative tension rod. The look can easily be changed out with the season or mood.
