Seniors Angie Morrow and Taylor Vranicar demonstrate the use of pairing cardigans with shorts.

Tank tops, jean shorts, sandals and fun colors scream women’s summer fashion. Big sweaters, leggings and boots go hand- in- hand with fall fashion.

Both seasons have very distinct looks, which can actually become a problem. What is one supposed to wear that last week of summer or that first month or two of school?

Kaneland students express themselves through their clothes like senior Angie Morrow who never fails to find a solution.

“I wear outfits a lot with cardigans and shorts so it still fits the summer style, but it slowly brings in the layering that happens in the fall,” Morrow said.

Since layering is popular with fall fashion, pairing a lightweight cardigan with a short sleeve shirt would be a perfect outfit for that “in between” stage of summer and fall. It’s versatile yet comfortable. When the temperatures rise, the cardigan can easily be shed.

Another way to combine the two different fashions is by flip-flopping different pieces. Many girls like senior Taylor Vranicar rock this sort of look.

“I combine summer and fall fashion by either wearing shorts and a sweater or a cute tank top and leggings,” Vranicar said.

English teacher Christina Staker is also very fond of fashion. Having to dress professionally for her job and look stylish at the same time, Staker knows how to maintain that balance.

“I wear scarves, leggings and boots during that transition season. I match those with clothes that aren’t too heavy. Also, UGG boots should not be worn until at least the first snow,” Staker said.
