As a new semester begins, Kaneland will unveil a school wide Hero update. The new update will bring new features like a website and an app as well as improvements to it’s already initiated features.

The website and app are already out and will allow students and parents access to their Hero portal, point balance, and their Hero history. To find the app, search “Hero K12” on your mobile device. The rest of the update will be rolled throughout the year.

Not only is the new update a benefit for the school board, but it’s beneficial for students as well. One of the improvements from the new update is using the points awarded to students for good behavior or participating in school activities can now be used for rewards.

“February 13 – 17 Student Council is planning a Spirit Week that will end with an assembly on Friday, Feb. 17 and Mr. Kaneland that evening.  There will be many Hero points possible that week” Jill Maras said.

A Hero Store will be opened during SMART Start beginning on Thursday, Feb. 23. The store will have a wide variety of items including Kaneland gear, gift certificates, and items donated by the community.

The new update will also help the process of collecting data for the school board to use to improve the school. They can recognize any possible behavioral patterns in the classroom, hallways and common areas. All of these new features will help with Hero’s main goal to inspire positive school behavior.
