Whether they are worn with jeans, skirts or sweats, UGG boots and moccasins are often seen in the Kaneland halls.
“[Moccasins and UGGs] are too cool to go out of style,” sophomore Frankie Furco said.
UGG boots continue to be popular, particularly when paired with skinny jeans, with leggings, or with shorts and mini-skirts. They are most commonly a buff suede color, but have been spotted in the halls in black, gray, and other neutral shades.
Moccasins have proven popular with both girls and guys at KHS, though the styles vary by gender. The shoes are available in a range of colors, from neutral grey to attention-getting red, and prices can be anywhere from $30 to $250 depending on where people go to get them.
“It’s cheaper to get them online because you don’t have a salesperson with you, and they also have to get paid for their sale. Online, you just get them directly,” junior Katie Vitacco said.
Boys at Kaneland are also following with the trend of moccasins and many students are encouraging it. “When boys wear moccasins, it makes them look kind of metro, but most guys can “pull it off,” sophomore Samantha Hansen said. “It looks cute.”
“Guys should be entitled to wear what they want,” Vitacco said.
Most say they wear their UGGs and moccasins because they are warm, comfortable and seem to match every outfit. Some stores that sell them are Nordstrom, Target, American Eagle, and Macy’s.
