BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA–$159 million in cocaine.
That’s what Police Commissioner Andrew Colvin and his team found during a raid in Brisbane last month.
A week before the raid, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration was tipped off that a catamaran was headed for Australia from South America carrying cocaine, the Associated Press reported.Australian Customs and Border Protection intercepted the catamaran at sea.
Three men were arrested at the time the drugs were seized, and it was the third-largest seizure in Australian history.
Officer Paul Warren of the Kane County Sherriff’s Department said such seizures are common in the U.S.
