Receiving many shout outs from famous rappers like DJ Khaled and Chief Keef over social media, Niykee Heaton is rising to fame. 18 year old singer and songwriter, Heaton’s hometown is Geneva, Illinois. On September 23, 2014, Heaton’s extended play (EP) will be released.

Being only 18 and her EP Bad Intentions being her first set of songs released, it’s no wonder she’s not huge in music yet.

Several Kaneland students are big fans of Heaton. One of those fans, junior Dylan Vaca, is looking forward to the release.

“I’m very excited for her new album to come out. She has some of the best vocals in the music industry. I think she’ll get a lot of publicity and more people will recognize her talents,” Vaca said.

Vaca isn’t the only one who is a fan of Heaton. Many Kaneland students have seen her in public. With her hometown being Geneva, Heaton has frequently been seen at Geneva Commons.

Seniors Gina Pettenon and Nicole McClellan are a few witnesses.

“We were shaking when we saw her. I walked up to her as she was leaving Forever 21 in Geneva Commons, and asked if she’d take a picture with Gina and I. After the picture, she asked Gina and I if we could follow her on twitter. She followed us back,” McClellan said.

Niykee Heaton isn’t the typical diva with a massive ego.

“She was nice, bubbly and really down to earth. It seems like she’s very appreciative of her fans,” Pettenon said.

Next time a shopping trip is made in Geneva Commons, or a Youtube music binge-watching is taking place, remember the upcoming singer Niykee Heaton. Check out her new EP Bad Intentions tomorrow when it is released.
