Elburn board meeting

On Mon. May 21, Max, a local boy scout, led the Pledge of Allegiance at the Elburn village board meeting precisely at 7 p.m.

The committee agreed to approve of Fox Valley Tree Services to remove 11 large trees throughout elburn that are either dying or diseased. It was decided that this task would not exceed $6,100.

Going along with budgets, it was found that Elburn had started off the 2012 year with more money than they ended the 2011 year with.

“I want to thank the staff for being diligent even with the police pension that kept us over the original amount, so kudos to those guys thank you.” David L Anderson, Village Trustee said.

The invoice for last year was just over $38,000. and the invoice for this year is just over $47,000.

The main issue discussed is the new paving of Route 47 and whether or not there will be designated handicap parking spots. The currently plans do not show any spots for this. Anderson emailed the state asking, but had yet to hear a response.

They looked into surrounding areas on main routes and found that Route 64 in St.Charles doesn’t have designated handicap parking spots. Geneva was found to have diagonal handicap parking on Route 38, while Batavia has none on either Route 25 or Route 31.

“Handicap parking is wide, you don’t have the width typically for 18 feet with parallel parking. Although there hasn’t been anybody to deny or confirm that, it’s just not seen around here,” Anderson said.

While Kenneth Anderson agreed that designated handicap parking would be nice, creating it without permission would cause legal issues.

”The problem is we don’t want to designate spots and then have it not meet standards, because those will bring legal issues,” Kenneth said.

The issue of filling swimming pools was brought up by a resident concerning water bill fees. There has not been a sewer fee since the fall of 2009, however pool water is not supposed to go down the storm water drain due to the chemicals included in it.
