Film: The House at the End of the Street

By Kaprice Sanchez, Executive Editor

Moving into a new neighborhood is scary enough, but when the people that are called “neighbors” have a secret that they aren’t willing to tell, it’s even more frightening. Nothing is more unlucky than finding out that the house next door had two murders that happened in it. Not to mention, three people four years later had the same destiny.

The House at the End of the Street directed by Mark Tonderai is shocking with a new twist at every corner. The Hunger Games’ Jennifer Lawrence plays Elissa who gets the hots for the neighbor. However, Elissa’s mom doesn’t want her child to have anything to do with him. It comes down to them breaking the rules to keep their new love alive.

The film is targeted for a mature audience.

Film: Sinister

By Jaemee Cordero, Editor

A novelist has a new book to write about: the truth about the murder of a family.  There is no better place to investigate than inside crime scene itself and he decides to move into the deceased family’s home where the homicides took place.  He finds a mysterious box of footage in the attic and discovers that what they have recorded are shocking.  He realizes that he is facing more than just a murder — he is facing the dangers of a supernatural entity, and he has put himself and his own family in its path.

Sinister exceeds its expectations as a horror film and lives up to its name.  It’s a terrifying and haunting piece of work.  The movie has plenty of unanticipated scenes and a twist that will leave audiences awed.

Sinister is now playing and rated R.

TV Show: Once Upon A Time

By Elizabeth Such, Editor

Once Upon a Time’s second season premiere is anything but Broken, like the title of the first episode suggests.

The show follows Emma Swan and her son Henry Mills on their adventure to return Storybrook to its natural fairytale state.

With a lot of ground to cover after season one’s cliffhanger ending, this first episode was jam-packed with tons of plot development, though lacking some of the personal character development that the first season was renowned for.

Though the curse that separated all of the fairytale characters from their natural world was broken, Swan and the rest of Storybrook find themselves in a new predicament leading to another epic adventure in this new season. This season just as promising as the first.

The show is directed towards both an older teen and adult audience for its elaborate storylines.

Once Upon A Time airs on Sundays at 7pm on ABC network.

Haunted House: Basement of the Dead

ByEddie Rodriquez, Editor

As the fall months approach us, there are endless activities that fit along with the season. There are apples to be picked, corn mazes to be ventured and pumpkins to be carved, but the list doesn’t end there;  the Basement of the Dead is a good one for the fearless.

It is located at 42 West New York Street, with a $25 general admission.  It not only include the typical haunted basement, but it also features Shattered the worlds best 3D haunted house. Open every weekend Thursday through Sunday and October 30th and 31st.

With Halloween only a few weeks away there’s no better way to get your scare on.  Featuring far more scarier creatures then the typical ghouls, and ghosts, the Basement of the Dead’s staff does their best to make you scream and keep coming back year after year.

Even waiting in line to actually get in was entertaining, with loud rock music playingand people in costumes as monsters interacting with the people waiting there. Overall, this haunted house does not fail people’s expectations.
