Old t shirt to new shirt

How to turn an old t-shirt into something new

By, Hannah Wallace

Step 1:

Cut off the collar of the t-shirt. Try to make it as even as possible with a smooth edge all the way around.

Step 2:

Carefully cut off the sleeves. Follow the hemline for the most precise cut, Make them as similar as possible so each side of  the shirt looks the same.

Step 3:

Flip the shirt over and cut a deep v in the back. The depth of the v depends on the creator. It should at least extend down between the armholes; make sure not to cut the front of the shirt by mistake.

Step 4:

Cut off the hem. Be sure to make the cut as straight as possible. Cut off more material from the backs of each armhole so that there is only a couple inches between them.

Step 5:

Take the hem cut from the bottom of the shirt and twist it around the bit of fabric left in between the sleeves in the back. Double knot the twist when finished.

Step 6:

Cut off the excess hem from the twist and the shirt is finished. Now the old not so interesting shirt is something fun and unique that would be great for layering. Cutting up a couple other t-shirts with interesting designs and colors would also be a great way to make a fashion statement.
