Among the many new teachers at Kaneland is English teacher Rachel Giles.

Giles said she really likes it at KHS, and that everyone has been very welcoming. She said she was looking forward to getting to know her students better and teaching new books that she hasn’t taught before.

Giles graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelor degree in English with a educational sequence.

During her free time she likes to spend time with her friends and does community service.

Giles participated in Alternative Breaks at school which is a club that organized community service projects around the world. She plans to find community service around the Kaneland area.

Giles chose KHS because she had multiple friends who graduated from Kaneland who spoke highly of it.

She decided to become an English teacher because she has always loved reading.

“I had phenomenal teachers growing up who inspired me. Also, I didn’t want a 9-5 desk job,” Giles said.
