Two students get ready to dive into the ACT practice test

Being mentally and physically ready to take the ACT can be a difficult, especially with the juggling of schoolwork and sometimes sports.

Preparation tests that are offered at Kaneland include ACT 36, an eight week program for the April 12 ACT and the April 23 PSAE that started January 27 and ending March 24. In this program, employees from Exceledge come to the school and teach students on Mondays from 7-9 p.m.

Kaneland also offers an online and free ACT prep course on the website Naviance. This is a new state of the art online college and career planning and application processing system.

Junior Madi Jurcenko, scored a 32 on her ACT prep test without the use of either of these classes. She took the less traditional route and studied outside of school in Batavia with Dr. Karen Kletzing.

She studied up to an hour everyday and took various practice tests. Her tips for getting the most promising score was to pace oneself and practice as much as possible.

Senior Muhammad Rehman scored extremely well with a 34 out of 36 on his actual ACT. To him the ACT was a matter of paying attention all year and taking several practice tests. According to him as long as you know your stuff the ACT should go well. He gained several scholarships from various schools.     “Scoring well on my ACT definitely increased my chances for getting into big colleges” Rehman said.

He has received many academic merits based on his impressive score. Rehman has been offered scholarships ranging from full ride academic scholarships to half merit scholarships.

Getting into a top college can be very beneficial to students who take advantage of the fortuity of learning and resources of a University. The search for jobs is becoming a much more difficult burden, so a degree might help.

A top score on the ACT can pave the way for college education. Most colleges will tend to favor students with high ACT scores because it identifies the potential and college readiness.                              The best prepartion for a better future tommorow is  how hard you’re willing to work today.
