“The Bible” series reaches 11 million views

By Jarod Erlandson, Reporter

The History Channel’s new hit show, “The Bible” series, has become one of most watched programs around the nation. With over 11.7 million viewers, this spiritual and emotional series has opened a new door giving a different perspective of the Bible and the Christian faith.

Produced by famous Hollywood producers Mark and Roma Burnett, the series vividly presents some of the best known stories from the Old and the New Testament of the Bible. The 10 hour series consists of five parts containing two episodes each. These episodes include stories such as Noah’s Ark, the Exodus of Daniel in the Lion’s Den and the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

After three-and-a-half years of filming and over 150 million dollars spent, this brilliant and moving series took off right from the start. Each and every episode created a connection to the audience due to the variety of excellent actors and the amount of special effects.

Not one character or action seemed to be out of place or given the wrong role. Darwin Shaw (Peter), Diogo Morgado (Jesus Christ) and Roma Burnett (Mary) really stood out. Each of these characters perfected their roles as dynamic true to life characters.

What was really impressive is how Diogo Morgado performed the role of Jesus Christ. His performance of the Crucifixion and Resurrection of Jesus Christ was mesmerizing. Diogo really embraced himself as Jesus and performed every second with the love and compassion that Jesus comprised himself of.

Also, the special effects used during the series were very intriguing. Director Keith David would introduce Jesus by having him walk through a blazing and breathtaking light when he would reappear after his death.

With the magnificent and compelling nature in which the stories are told, “The Bible” series is the show that strengthens and communicates the message of the Bible to anyone who watches.
