The weather is warming up, layers are coming off and bright colors are appearing in flowers and fashion. With summer just around the corner, new trends and summer must-haves are the latest craze among many students.

Fashion styles come from many inspirations. Vanessa Hudgins’s bohemian style seems to attract attention, but for people like Junior Mary Lynn Clausen and Sophomore Robby Nachreiner, a parents’ fashion advice is all that’s needed.

“My dad always encourages me to dress nice,” Nachreiner said.

“I think my mom is a big inspiration. I also try to dress for myself. When I look good, I feel good and confident,” Clausen said.

Freshman Hailee Harris explains that she gets ideas from Tumblr, then puts together outfits while shopping at Forever 21.

Most girls favor shopping at Forever 21 because of the up-to-date trends and the inexpensive average price of forty to fifty dollars for an outfit.

Similarly, many guys shop at Hollister and American Eagle for the latest male fashion.

“[I think the ‘in styles’ are] sundresses, maxi skirts and crop tops, definitely boots and rain boots. Pastel colors are coming back,” Clausen said.

“I see a lot of guys wearing Sperry’s,” Nachreiner said.

As far as getting ready for the summer fashion, Clausen says some must haves are summer dresses, high waisted shorts with crop tops and summery skirts. Harris thinks that adding in floppy hats, floral shorts and sandals will be sure to have you in style.

“[Some summer must haves for guys are] Sperry’s, khaki shorts and muscle tanks,” Nachreiner said.
