Can’t afford to fly to Florida? Looking for something new and exciting? You live near a world class city, so why not go out and embrace it? Chicago offers many solutions and opportunities for families to have fun over spring break.
Millennium Park, located east of Michigan Ave. and to the north of Monroe St., is just one of the remarkable attractions Chicago has to offer. According to the Choose Chicago website, “Millennium Park is a family friendly attraction that is an award-winning center for art, music, architecture and landscape design.”
These designs include the Jay Pritzker Pavilion, the Crown Fountain and the Cloud Gate (known as the “bean”). The Jay Pritzker Pavilion is a 120-foot tall pavilion that is made to mimic the acoustics of the indoor country halls according to the Chicago tourism website. The Pavilion is also home to the Grant Park Musical Festival and holds live performances almost every night.
Another magnificent attraction to visit would be the Skydeck Chicago.
“Skydeck Chicago is an incredible experience featuring museum quality interactive exhibits, the fastest multimedia elevator ride and a brand new theater that highlights the architecture and culture of Chicago,” according to Choose Chicago.
That’s all included with the breathtaking and unimaginable view of the Chicago skyline from the 103rd floor of Willis Tower. From 1,353 feet high, visitors are able to see amazing views of Lake Michigan, Michigan Ave., Wrigley Field and many other terrific attractions.
“I’ve been to the Skydeck once, and it’s an experience you will never forget. It’s a great place for you and your family to go to and it is definitely worth visiting,” sophomore Grace Drake said.
If families enjoy seeing live animals but don’t want to worry about being cold in the zoo, the Shedd Aquarium is the place to go.
According to Choose Chicago, Shedd Aquarium has 32,500 different creatures.
“I’ve been to the Shedd Aquarium and if you’re into fish and undersea animals, you have to check out the place,” sophomore Hannah Theis said.
Why sit around the house doing nothing while you can enjoy magnificent attractions like these? Make spring break 2013 one to remember.
