Kelsey Marie Barsic was born on April 1, 1992 to Jim and Brenda Barsic. She died on Aug. 18, 2009 as a result of a car accident in the 41W300 block of Burlington Rd. in Campton Hills. Barsic’s car struck a tree, and she died instantly. She was not wearing a seatbelt, nor did the airbags deploy.
Barsic would have started her senior year at KHS, where she was planning to take a nursing class and pursue a medical career.
“We used to go to bonfires a lot. She loved taking her sister to Chuck E. Cheese,” senior Melanie Tyler said. “She liked chilling with her friends on the weekends.”
She also enjoyed going to movies with her friends, and going to pet shops to see the animals there.
“We would go to the pet shop, like, once a week, and pet the animals. We would always do that,” senior Katie Walton said.
Tyler described Barsic as “one of the biggest pains in my butt, but she was also my best friend. She was really outgoing.”
Barsic held a part-time job at an ice cream parlor in Sycamore, where she worked when she wasn’t with her friends or family.
“She could make me laugh just by looking at me,” senior Kelly Hess said. “She was always in a good mood, even when she was mad. It was hard to take her seriously [because of it.]”
Walton added that Barsic always wanted to make sure everyone was happy. She also had a good heart, senior Rachael Bezan said.
“She had a good spirit, and always had a good time. She had the ability to love everyone,” Bezan said.
Senior Lauren Brown said “she was just really kind and friendly and bright.”
