Junior Katy Dudzinski made her final decision and verbally committed to Wichita State University to play Division 1 volleyball on April 12.

“I’m really excited to have committed and finally be done with the recruiting process,” Dudzinski said.

She said she recently visited the school  over spring break and really liked the atmosphere and the volleyball team, which is known as the Shockers. Most importantly, the school offered the type of education she is interested in pursuing.

After visiting many other colleges and talking to many coaches she said she realized Wichita was the school for her.

“I wanted to play at the highest level possible, and Wichita allows me to do that while still offering my major,” Dudzinski said.

Dudzsinski is only the second Kaneland varsity volleyball player to commit to play volleyball at Division 1 school, following senior Jessica Lubic, who signed with Northern Illinois in the fall.

“She is going to shock the world,” Lubic said.
