“Number 78, Alex Snyder, with the tackle,” announcer Kurt Green says over the loud speaker at about every varsity football game.
Sophomore Alex Snyder is the offensive right tackle and the defensive nose tackle for the Kaneland Knights. Both positions are on the line, and his job is to plug up the middle when he is on offense and to make sure that no one gets by and the other team’s quarterback doesn’t pass when he is on defense.
Snyder, who has been playing football since third grade, began starting for the varsity team as a freshman.
“Alex is a very good player,” Coach Tom Fedderly said. “He started in the high school only the last two years.”
Synder has played in every game so far this year. In every game he is sure to stay strong on offense and to put a lot of pressure for the other team to not score.
“I think I am doing pretty well,” Snyder said. “Definitely better than last year.”
The team is currently undefeated, with an 8-0 record.
