December 5: Don’t be a Scrooge; Read This Review

The famous Christmas movie “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens has been remade countless times. There are good and bad versions of the movie., “Mickey a Christmas Carol”; “Bah, Humduck a looney toons Christmas”; “Mr Magoo a Christmas Carol”.

“Mickey a Christmas Carol” is more of a kid friendly movie. It uses the famous Disney characters like Mickey Mouse as Bob Cratchit and Goofy as Jacob Marley’s ghost. The famous Ebenezer Scrooge is played by Scrooge McDuck who is voiced by Alan Young. It has lessons that are taught  through the movie to  Ebenezer why his life is the way it is and what would happen if he doesn’t change. It’s not as intense as in other movies like when Jacob Marley comes to see Scrooge first it’s more of a joke. I would recommend this movie for families with younger kids or anyone who is up for a good Disney Christmas movie.

“Mr Magoo’s a Christmas Carol” has a different twist to the background of the original story. It is a cartoon version that starts with a short old man who is on his way to perform in a broadway show. There is a lot of singing and  it has  small jokes in it to make it light. But gets very intense in some scenes like when he’s in his grave when he goes to the future. It is an older movie so the graphics aren’t the best. I would recommend this movie for people who enjoy movies with lots of singing.

“Bah, Humduck a looney toons christmas” version has a little more reality. It’s about a store owner who is very rich and is horrible to his employees but still ends up changing his life around in the end. It is very funny and is  a classic looney toons story with all the popular characters. It shows the life lessons that the original story had but the writers kept this version light and fun to watch. I would recommend this movie for people looking for a funny looney christmas.
