Get Ready for Vacation: Helpful Lists

It’s that time of year, everyone is getting out of school and vacation time is taken off work. With everyone traveling to new places, the airports are filled with people from all around as flights head off to different destinations.     

When going on any kind of vacation, always bring basic necessities such as clothes, pants and shirts, toiletries and shoes. Whenever on a specific vacation the list of things to bring gets much longer and specialized, lists are different for each kind of trip.

Beach Vacation When going on a beach vacation there is always more to pack than normal, most importantly multiple swimsuits. And don’t forget:

  • Sunglasses, a hat, some kind of cover up and a form of water shoes
  • Multiple beach towels
  • A few beach chairs
  • An umbrella or two
  • Plenty of snacks and drinks
  • Many beach toys and entertainment- (waterproof) speaker, goggles, sand toys, a good book, a deck of cards and a ball to play catch with
  • Lots of sunscreen

The easiest way to keep track of all your beach things is to have a big mesh beach bag that has plenty of room, is lightweight and can easily be washed out.

City Trip When in the city, Chicago, New York or Seattle there is a lot to see and do. So be sure you bring your charged camera and with an extra battery, charger, storage chip, and a portable bag. The most important thing to prepare for when going in to the city is all different kinds of weather. Always bring clothes that can be layered.

  • A variety of short and long sleeve shirts
  • Flannels
  • A vest
  • Cardigans
  • A jean jacket
  • A water resistant windbreaker
  • An umbrella
  • A hat and sunglasses

All of your clothing should be comfortable, functional and protective against all kinds of weather. With this wardrobe your trip will be enjoyable and stress free.

Cruise Leaving a daily lifestyle of chaos  and hopping on a luxurious boat to sail the seas and stop at popular tourist destinations. When always around a lot of people it is important that all of the crucial items you need are easy for you to access and safe from other people. So be sure in your wallet you have:

  • Transportation information/papers
  • Cruise documents
  • Passport/Visa
  • Additional forms of identification- ID and Driver’s License/Permit
  • Insurance card
  • Any credit cards or money you choose to bring with you

Also bring along guidebooks/maps, sunglasses, lots of sunscreen, swimsuits, your camera, a hat and a coverup.

Road Trip A road trip is full of beautiful sights, great memories and experiences that will be remembered for a lifetime. Comfort is important so bring:

  • Pillows
  • Blankets
  • Headphones
  • A cooler full of food and drinks
  • Books/coloring  
  • Homework
  • Chargers for all electronics
  • Sunglasses

It would also be beneficial to have some hand sanitizer or wipes and napkins to keep clean.  

Winter Retreat Although it may require a little bit more space, a trip to the snow always means a good time. Stay warm with:

  • Sweaters
  • Hats
  • Gloves
  • Scarves
  • Snow boots
  • Snow pants
  • Winter coats
  • Lots of hand warmers

Be sure that everything you bring is waterproof to keep you as warm as possible, keeping your base layer and wool socks dry, products made of nylon and polyester will get the job done well. Always have with you some tissues, chapstick and lotion.

Camping  A campfire night with a sky full of stars is an enjoyable way to spend spring break, but only if you have everything you need to keep safe and comfortable. There is a lot to remember to bring when camping.

  • A tent
  • Sleeping arrangements- pillows, blankets, air matress, foam mattress, sleeping bags or cots
  • A tarp
  • Flashlights- extra batteries
  • Chairs
  • A first aid kit
  • Food and drinks- safely kept away from animals at all times in a locked cooler, the best option would be  to keep your cooler in a locked vehicle, if not available the next best option is to use a metal bear box
  • Bug spray
  • A camera
  • Boots
  • A map
  • Sun protection- sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat

These products are essential when camping ensuring comfort, protection and relaxation.
