Random Acts of Kindness is a school wide mission and celebration about being kind to others and to ourselves and doing good acts everyday. Everybody can participate in Random Acts of Kindness, and it does not matter what they do to be kind or make others feel good.  It is about doing anything kind, like picking up trash or complimenting a fellow student.

“We want to make Kaneland a safe, and accepting place,” Mrs. McFarlin said. The teachers are trying to include everybody in being nice and helpful to each other and making everybody feel good. Not only is the school participating in this but it has teamed up with the community to try and promote acts of kindness.

Teachers are making sure that the school as a whole is included in Random Acts of Kindness to try and help the environment of the school to make it a happy and welcoming place to be. Some examples of kindness would be finding money and turning it in, or even something as simple as giving another student a smile.

Students and teachers have being been doing random acts of kindness everywhere inside and outside of the school. Even the District has been participating and promoting K.I.K week, which means Kindness in Kaneland. Bullying is a large problem in Kaneland and it affects almost everybody. Kindness in Kaneland is also about trying to put a dent in this problem, which would improve Kaneland’s environment. K.I.K week has been effective in providing a happy, safe and kind place to be.
