Curbing chocolate cravings with tasty truffles
January 21, 2015
Have a friend or family member’s birthday coming up? Or is your sweet-tooth craving that extra-delicious treat? Skip the bland boxed-brownies and the boring pre-cut cookie dough; make some tasty, homemade chocolate truffles. They’re so delightful, and they’ll please every chocolate-lover.
Ingredients:
3 cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips
18 ounce can of sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated)
1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
Colorful sprinkles, finely chopped nuts, or finely chopped coconut slivers (optional)
Directions:
1. Pour the chocolate chips and the sweetened condensed milk into a small pot. Place the pot over a burner at very low heat.
2. Stir the mixture until the chocolate is melted and has a smooth, thick consistency. Turn off the burner once it is done cooking.
3. Mix one tablespoon of vanilla extract into the melted chocolate until the extract is evenly distributed. Feel free to now lick the spoon!
4. Chill the chocolate in the refrigerator for at least two hours. Once chilled, take the chocolate out of the fridge and roll into small balls.
5. Roll the chocolate balls into colorful sprinkles, finely chopped nuts, or even finely chopped coconut slivers. This is your chance to get creative. Put the coated chocolate balls into miniature tinfoil cupcake liners and enjoy.
