The power of people is something special. Every person on the face of the earth has a story to tell; a story that is special to them and that could be influential to others. Never judge a book by its cover.
Ethan Witt is known as the senior who got a perfect score on his ACT. However, people don’t know the real story behind Ethan, how he hopes society will be impacted from his values and beliefs.
“I like to think of myself as a very progressive and very open-minded person. I follow my personal beliefs completely,” Witt said.
Just like many others in present and past, Ethan believes heavily in social equality.
“I value equality of humans before anything else. As cheesy as it sounds, I believe everyone was created equal. America has become a nation that values wealth before the people. I believe everyone’s duty is to help the unemployed, people who struggle in everyday life, and especially the homeless,” Witt said.
Ethan is an individual that wants to be remembered for something; he wants to have an impact on the world.
“I’m very curious about the world and how the universe works. My first love was to be engaged in the scientific community. The reason I want to be engaged is because I want to make an impact on society. I’m extremely dissatisfied with society, and I think we’re heading down the path to destruction. We are one of the wealthiest nations in the world, yet we are one of the laziest, especially when it comes to education,” Witt said.
Witt plans on making an influence by becoming an aerospace engineer.
“I think getting everyone involved in science will get everyone interested in education again. That’s why I want to be an aerospace engineer,” Witt said.
Aerospace engineering is the design of aircraft or spacecraft for research, transportation or exploration purposes. Ethan wants to take part in the spacecraft area.
“I really want to focus on the space portion by designing the space crafts. I’ve always wanted to be an astronaut since I was a little kid, and now I know for sure what I want to be. Life on Earth can be improved in a special way by expanding our knowledge about other places in the solar system. This will also get people more involved in education, well I guess the science portion at least,” Witt said.
It appears Ethan has made deep strides towards his goal, considering he achieved a 36 on his ACT. Ethan’s next step is to go to college and follow his dream.
“Right now I applied early entry to Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In my opinion, MIT is the best technological school on the face of the earth. I took a tour there over summer and the atmosphere there is amazing. It is a place where real science is taking place wherever you look,” Witt said.
Even with a perfect ACT score, Ethan still believes getting into the school will be a challenge.
“I’m really hoping I get in because I love it there, except I know there are a lot of people who always want to get in there. I’ll just wait and see what happens,” Witt said.
Getting a perfect score on the ACT is definitely not an easy task to complete.
“I know there are a lot of people out there who study a lot. Honestly, I really didn’t do much, like I didn’t formally study. I believe that I was indirectly preparing myself for the ACT my entire life, just by trying hard in class and looking things up on my own. I think there are many strategies that can be used to help people study. There are always online tools, but I think practice tests are the best way to go. I believe when it comes to the mathematics and the grammar part of the ACT, all of those questions you can prepare for by just reviewing what you learned over your years at high school. With reading and the science, it’s all about looking at the little details,” Witt said.
When Ethan was taking the ACT, he solely relied on confidence for success.
“I took the ACT both times and got a 36 both times I took it. The key to staying calm and not freaking out is to have confidence in yourself. When I took the test, I kept telling myself that I knew how to do this,” Witt said.
Even with receiving a 36 on the ACT, Ethan does many activities on his free time that don’t relate to school.
“I hope people don’t see me as a quiet individual. In my free time I enjoy hanging out with friends, and I love to design video games. Me and my friend, who actually lives in Alaska, enjoy developing games as well as developing a simulator rocket since we both love space travel,” Witt said.
Ethan is someone that doesn’t want to be known as the guy who got the perfect score on the ACT. His future and his beliefs are what he wants to be known by; the individual who believes in social equality and the one who got space travel back on track for the good of our country.
