As the 2014-2015 school year starts, new faces fill the hallways of Kaneland High School. One of these is Lori Shroka,  who teaches Communication Studies and works in the writing lab.

Before moving to KHS, Shroka taught for 14 years at Kaneland’s middle school level. When the opportunity to work as a high school teacher came up, Shroka knew she would be right for the job.

“I thought it was a good move for me,” Shroka said.

In her spare time Shroka grades papers, plans curriculum and checks emails; something that is familiar to all high school teachers.

The changes students make from middle school to high school are drastic, Shroka describes watching these changes as the best part of her new job.
