Like current the current music crazes, the game Pokémon is a trending among teens.  Though the game is mainly aimed at children, many teens and adults enjoy playing it. 

Pokémon allows the player to become a pokemon trainer and travel the in-game world, battling other trainers to make their Pokémon stronger.  A new Pokémon game was recently released on October 12, called Pokémon X and Y.

This game is the first to allow players to customize their trainers.  The main goal of the game is to fight to become the best and strongest trainer of the pokémon.

Many Kaneland students have also been caught up by the addictive fun that is Pokemon.

“I’ve been into Pokémon since I was a little kid,” senior Nate Dyer said.

Many of the best trainers level up their pokémon to the highest level, which is level 100.  Once at this level, they will enter their pokémon in online competitions.  This allows the game to continue to be fun, even if the game was beaten.

Playing with friends has also become a bigger part of the Pokémon games.  In the newest games, it is easier than ever to find and battle your friends.  Many rivalries form between players, as each try to defeat the other and become the Pokémon master.

Pokémon will remain an addictive game for people of all ages.  Many of the veteran players will enjoy battling with their monsters for years to come.

On YouTube, people will often review themselves playing games like Pokémon or new games for entertainment purpose. One of these people, who goes as “Pewdiepie,” has become the second most subscribed to channel on all of YouTube, falling short only to the YouTube Spotlight channel.

Pewdiepie, who’s really Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg, was born in Sweden. His channel started out small, but he quickly became famous for his overreactions while playing horror video games.

“I personally think he is hilarious; I enjoy the fact that he freaks over the smallest things because the way he screams is quite funny. But I also love that he tries to reach out to his fans. It makes me feel like I’m a part of a community,” junior Bridgette Price said.

Some of the games he is famous for playing are Amnesia: the Dark Descent, Happy Wheels and Slenderman.  He has played many more games, most of which fall into the horror genre.

Pewdiepie occasionally plays games with other Youtubers, one being “Cryaotic.”  Cryaotic, or “Cry,” for short, has never revealed his name or face, and doesn’t plan on doing so.  However, the mystery behind him leads many fans to picture him wearing a white mask with a simple face on it.  Cry drew the face himself once, and it stuck amongst his fans.

Pewdiepie also plays with other gamers, bringing more subscribers to the channels of those he plays with.

Pewdiepie has also been involved in much charity work helping to raise money.  He uses his YouTube fame to reach out to many people, getting many donations.

If anyone wanting a laugh and a gamer family fandom, Pewdiepie is definitely the right channel to search for.

“To all the Pewdiepie fans I say BROFIST!” Price said.
