Chorus group showcases comedic talent

For the past 38 years Kaneland High School choir students have had the chance to participate in a group called Madrigals. This year, the Madrigals dinner was held on December 11, 12 and 13.

At the dinner, members sang multiple holiday songs and performed various short plays in between the musical ensembles.

The performance was very entertaining and comedic; it kept the audience engaged.

Throughout the performance, there were many times that the Madrigals would engage with the crowd by asking them to do something; some guests even had the chance to go up on stage to sing and dance.

The dinner included 33 students along with 25 servers, three beggars, four pages and 17 musicians. The servers brought the audience  food and the beggars sang a song at every table asking for donations.

The recorder and brass choirs did a great job at adding to the concert.

In order to enjoy the show you had to have a level of maturity. If a young kid were to go, they would get bored very quickly because most of the time the performers spoke, they used a “traditional vocabulary” rather than, a modern vocabulary that is easily comprehensible to adolescents.

I would give the dinner a 4.5 out of 5 because although the performers did an exceptional job, the food being served got cold fast so, it was hard to eat it all while it was warm. Once it got cold it didn’t taste as good so, it was just wasteful.
