There are plenty new faces walking the halls of Kaneland this year. One of them is teacher, Amanda Dekker.

“I love it here at Kaneland so far,” said Dekker.

This is her first year teaching chemistry and biology. Dekker subbed at Kaneland during the 2013-2014  year. Before that she was a substitute teacher in the Elgin area.

Trading in her role as a sub, she stated that she’s looking forward to working and getting to know each of her students.

“I like to work with the students and get them excited about science,” said Dekker.

When she’s not teaching, shes coaching the color guard.

Dekker also enjoys spending time with her stepson and her husband.
