The sounds and scenes of the summer

The summer of 2013 is one that will never be forgotten. With all the hit songs and popular films, everyone will have something to reminisce upon. This summer featured many new singles ranging from pop, to country to rap. With all the variety, it was easy to have a “summer song” that would remind someone of the memories and times they shared with friends and family.

A favorite over break was “Radioactive” by Imagine Dragons. The song was different because it was alternative, but it had a unique sound to it, not like normal alternative music. It featured a lot of bass and had an electronic feel to it as well. The song has spent 47 weeks on the iTunes top 40 chart and  sold about $4.3 million in downloads. That is just a little taste of how popular the song was. But let’s not forget about the movies.

This season also highlighted some great movies as well as music. For all of those kids at heart, a recommended movie is “Despicable Me 2.” This movie, according to Box Office Mojo, has sold over $350 million in the box office and is still growing. Being a sequel to the original “Despicable Me,” it can be found surprising that it is doing so well because sequels are known to usually be a disappointment to viewers. Obviously this film was no dissapointment. It’s a great family movie, and it reminds people that no matter how old they get; they are never too mature for a good ‘ole children’s animation film.
