Every year, the Kaneland District welcomes a number of new students, teachers, and staff. Among these are paraprofessionals (parapro) who help students around the schools. One of these new teachers is Wayne Peterson.

In addition to co-teaching World Cultures, Peterson is also a parapro for 9th and 10th grade English classes with Victoria Davis and Kristen Johnson.

Peterson worked at Kaneland Harter Middle School before transferring to Kaneland High School. Prior to that, he taught industrial technology at Burlington Central Middle School.

Peterson decided to become a teacher 18 years ago, after college. He started with teaching industrial technology, and later continued his education to become a special education teacher.

“I believe that young people are the answer to solve some of our societal problems,” said Peterson.

Aside from being a teacher, Peterson likes spending time with his family, and he goes camping every year with them to a camp in Colorado for a week.
