Kaneland High School held a “Welcome Back” dance last Friday, August 22. The dance was free, providing the cafeteria for space and a disc jockey (DJ).

Around 20 students attended the dance, and although it wasn’t enough to fill up the entire room, the energy was there. The music blasted and the students all danced together having a blast.

“This dance was a lot of fun. There weren’t many people, but my senior friends were here, and we had a good time together and made it the best it could be,” Senior Emily Grams said.

The DJ took requests and played every song that the students wanted to hear. They lined up for the line-dancing songs including “Cupid Shuffle” which is a teen favorite.

New students, having it been their first high school dance, were pleased.

“It was a good experience. Having my friends here with me made it fun,” Freshman Amanda Eckstrom said.
