New KHS athletic Directors
After 14 years of working as an athletic director at Kaneland High School, Leigh Jaffke resigned in early October. She assigned coaches such as football coach Thomas Fedderly and boy’s basketball coach Brian Johnson, and was a huge help to making the school’s teams what they are today. After several weeks, the search for a temporary athletic director has come to an end.
After a few weeks with assistant principal Mike Rice as our athletic director, Kaneland now has two temporary athletic directors to fill in for the remainder of the year. Our school welcomes Rudy Keller and Ralph Drendel to the school staff.
The goal of bringing these two men is to maintain the athletic department for the remainder of the year.
“We will be working together on all sports projects such as schedules, referees and tournaments,” Keller said.
Now retired, both men have past athletic and teaching experience and have worked together before. Drendel is an alumni of Kaneland high school; he also taught here at Kaneland. Keller was an athletic director, teacher and coach at Waubonsee Valley high school for 33 years.
The athletic department will be interviewing for a set athletic director for the future in the spring.
“After we’re done here, we’ll be playing golf,” Drendel said.
