Kaneland High School hosted a fundraiser called “Spring into Support,” honoring students, former teachers, and current staff.

Kaneland High School is trying to get as many people to participate in spirit week as possible.

“Every person helps, we just want kids to care about other students and staff,” Mrs. Grant said.

A day of pink represented former Kaneland teacher Mrs. Sweeney on Wednesday. Many Students wore pink to show their appreciation for Sweeney.

“I wore pink today because I know people that have been diagnosed with cancer, also to represent Mrs. Sweeney,” Freshman Cody Delarme said.

Sweeney has been diagnosed with cancer for the last 22 years and has been fighting a tough battle ever since. She has had multiple surgeries and the cancer just doesn’t seem to go away. She can have a very risky surgery but it may not work.

“My lifestyle has changed completely, but it’s not just cancer itself, it’s all of the effects of cancer,” Sweeney said.

Mrs. Sweeney appreciates all the support from Kaneland High School.

“Prayers to get better are the only things I need from anyone,” Sweeney said.
