Heartland Blood Center will come to Kaneland on February 10 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. to conduct a blood drive.

This year about 25 student council members will be helping in the blood drive process.

“We like to do service projects and give back to the community, especially the Kaneland community. One of the reasons we do the blood drive is because there’s a lot of students in our Kaneland community that like to give blood and this gives them a chance to,” Sally Wilson said.

According to the Heartland Blood Center, the minimum age to donate blood is 17, but you can donate at 16 years old with a signed form by a parent or guardian.

The blood that students give will go to hospitals in the surrounding area.

“They are very easy to set up, all we have to do is arrange the students to sign up for the blood drive, the Heartland takes care of the rest,” Wilson said.
