Talents of all different sorts were presented during the 2015 Talent Show on Friday, March 13. Students showcased their skills, consisting of about 20 acts, and it was enhanced with special effects such as fog, star-shaped lights and bright spotlights.

Many families and community members came to watch the acts of singing, dancing, comedy and instrumentalists. The show admission was $5.00 and the money raised went to the Family and Consumer Science Fundraiser to supply new equipment for the culinary arts classes.

Physical education teacher, Tom Dillivan, performed for the audience one last time before his retirement. This year he sang “My Way” by Frank Sinatra.

“Mr. Dillivan was my favorite act. It was very memorable. His life and history at Kaneland was expressed when he said goodbye to everyone,” freshman Drew Gould said.

Noble Hwang played the cello, accompanied by his mother on piano, who together performed a duet to the song “Lalo Concerto” by Yo-Yo Ma.

“It was very intricate and pretty. In elementary school he played with his mom at almost every talent show. It was really fun to watch,” sophomore Hannah Peters said.

Another unique act was by German foreign exchange student, Anne Geiger, who sang a total of three songs, one of which was in German.

“The German song was very unique. You rarely hear that much German in one sitting,” freshman Richard “Gunnar” Magnuson said.

Besides the many singing acts, the lighthearted and humor of the night came from the comedy acts. Senior Taylor Eaves did a comedy act and senior Zack Thielk, having lost a bet, sang Disney’s “Frozen” and “Fergalicious.”

“The comedy acts were hilarious and most of the audience really seemed to enjoy them,” freshman Megan Weber said.

The night was full of entertainment for the community and student body. Many look forward to the annual showcasing of talents in years to come.

“I will come again next year. I enjoy seeing the talent and people expressing themselves on stage,” Magnuson said.
