Most people have a favorite book, whether it was a childhood memory or a recent favorite. Books present people with stories and information that sometimes inspire them to be who they are today.

World Cultures teacher Mark Meyer said his favorite book is The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson.

“It’s a nonfiction novel that reads like fiction. It is steeped in Chicago history which I love,” said Meyer. “It has inspired me to explore more about Chicago, and how it has changed over time.”

Biology and Environmental Science teacher Patrick Carter said his favorite book is Sand County Almanac by Aldo Leopold.

“It’s a poetic book that gets you to really think about how to reuse your possessions. It has helped me a lot with my Biology and Environmental Science classes,” said Carter.

The Stand by Stephen King is math teacher Tim Larsen’s favorite book.

“The amount of plot and characters in the story is fascinating. It has absolutely inspired me because I am a storyteller and everyone knows my ‘Larsen Stories’, and I think that anything with a good story is fantastic,” said Larsen.
