Ever catch yourself in an awkward position when you don’t know to talk about with someone else? There’s many books to read that can spark up a conversation, simply by reading a book or an article from a magazine according to Patrick Trapp.
“People’s biggest insecurity is that they feel like they’re not interesting. I think it’s that people don’t read. If you do, you have a lot more things to talk about.” said Trapp.
Trapp enjoys reading a lot and recommends certain books to students that can help them cope with various things. One of his favorite non-fiction book, “A New Earth” by Eckhart Tolle, he likes the book because it helps people understand that their life really has a purpose.
“That book is really good to not take things so personally. I recommend it if kids are really struggling or feeling depressed or feel like nothing really has a purpose or point.” Trapp said.
One of his favorite fiction book is “Freedom” by Jonathan Franzen.
“He’s just an amazing writer to really get in the skin of how people really are. He shows the humanity in people even in flaws.” Trapp said.
Trapp also enjoys books about physics. One book he mentioned that was really interesting to him was “Physics of the Future” by Michio Kaku. This book is based on studies and interviews of 300 top scientists. It’s about how the world will be years from now, from new technology to what nations will prosper.
