“I love golf because it keeps my mind off everything, and all my focus is on golf. After I get done playing I feel refreshed and good about myself. Growing up, I always loved golfing, but I didn’t get serious about it until my freshman year,” junior Tori Guyton said.
She started golfing with a team freshman year and her love for golf has grown tremendously over the years. She participates in two clubs outside of Kaneland High School, Illinois Junior Golf Association and Mid American Golf Tour. She also is a member of the Golf team at Kaneland.
Guyton has always loved playing with others.
“Tori is great and people on the team couldnt ask for a better teammate. Shes learned the ups and downs of golf and has grown,” Coach Mark Meyer said.
Guyton’s family has always been involved in golf.
John Guyton, Guytons’ father is a golf professional and plays for Illinois in the PGA (Professional Golfers’ Association.) Her sister also plays for Illinois State.
“My father is my biggest influence when it comes to golf and we always golf together,” Guyton said.
Connor Williams, Toris boyfriend has been practicing with Tori, and she has been an inspiration to him over the past three years.
“We love making each other better any way we can. She really has a deep passion and love for the game. She’s also the best practice partner I could ask for. I don’t think I’d still be playing after high school if it weren’t for Tori,” Williams said.
Guytons’ love for golf is inspiring, and she would love to pursue golf in her future.
