Running a business while still in high school may seem impossible to some but senior Hailee Harris is doing just that.

Harris recently made a website where she can sell the art that she makes. She currently sells drawings and paintings, and is thinking of adding her photography as well.

“Since I like painting and stuff all the time and since it just sits in my room, I thought about trying to do something with it. I always give drawings as presents so I thought if people actually like them, they may want to spend money on it,” Harris said.

Harris didn’t necessarily start the website just for money but because she has fun painting and drawing for others. She takes requests for artwork as well as posts pieces that she thinks of herself.

“People don’t really buy art, that’s just not a common career I guess so I kind of just want it to be a side job for fun,” Harris said.

Even though Harris is not focused on a career in making and selling paintings she wants to go into graphic design and hopes that her website will bring more exposure to her creativity.

“I want to do graphic design so maybe in the future people will say ‘oh my god, you made your own website and you sold your stuff? That’s so cool,’” Harris said.

Harris made an instagram to accompany her website and to give people easier access to her business.

“I was hoping with the instagram that if people come across it, they’ll follow it and see when there is a new listing on the website,” Harris said.

To buy a piece from Harris, buyers can use PayPal, accessible on haileesartgallery.com, or can pay Harris in person with cash to avoid fees.

Follow Harris’s instagram page @haileesartgallery to keep up to date with new listings on the website.
