A white light shines in the astrobody and the memories of our past. Within the bright light, colors are inside. A hand reaches inside, channels the energy and pushes it through the rest of the arm. This technique is used in spiritual healing seminars by Jenn Goan, a psychic and spiritual healer.
“When I do energy healing, I try to channel as pure as white light as I can,” Goan said. “People can view this as God’s love, white light or any other spiritual energy.” Goan is professionally known as Jenn Lynn Tarot in the psychic world. Goan specializes in multiple types of psychic abilities. Goan uses clairvoyance, clairsentience, clairaudience and even the use of smells during her services.
“Whether it’s doing healing energy work, healing from departed loved ones or tuning in as a psychic, you are tuning into universal energy that is around someone,” Goan said. “I get messages in different ways, an example being my spiritual guides. I use tarot cards as a tool as well.”
Jenn was raised in Knoxville, Tennessee, with a Southern Baptist upbringing. Her parents were strong on the idea that God is one to be feared. As a child, she had questions about the universe and different beliefs than other Southern Baptists.
One summer during Vacation Bible School, seven-year-old Jenn was discussing a Bible verse with her peers. The verse was Ephesians 6:2-3: “Honor thy father and mother; That it may be with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.” As they were discussing the verse, Goan asked them, “What about my mom from my life previously?” They stopped and looked at her.
“They looked at me like I was Satan,” Goan said. “I’ve always believed in previous lifetimes. I’ve always sort of questioned what I was being taught and how I interpreted it too. That got stronger in my early 20s.” Her religious questioning started when she was only four years old. It first occurred when she felt the presence of an angel with her. Now, she has a strong affinity with Archangel Raphael, the archangel of healing.
Outside of Jenn’s spirituality and religion, she had a very hard upbringing due to abuse from her parents. Growing up, she never knew if her home was going to be safe to return to.
“I always say I experienced child abuse. I’m the victim of nothing,” Goan said. “My parents were both raging narcissists. My mother was a pathological liar as well. There was no nurturing, there was no hugging and there was no telling someone they loved them. It was just cold and toxic.” Goan continued to explain how lucky she was to be alive. She kept these struggles to herself throughout her life because of embarrassment and shame.
The only person she had growing up was her grandfather. Goan didn’t realize she had any living grandparents until she was 14 years old. She met her grandfather at his mother’s funeral and has treasured him ever since.
“I got very close to him,” Goan said. “He and I were inseparable. He was my first case of unconditional love.” Tragically, Goan’s grandfather passed away when she was in her early 30s. With his help throughout her life, he was able to provide her with a support system.
Even with the love and support from her grandpa, Goan still needed help healing from her past. Once she moved out of her parents’ house, she wanted to release the negative energy that she once knew.
At age 19, Jenn saw her first psychic. The psychic told Goan something that she would never forget: “You’re a psychic.” He told her that he wanted her life for divine order, but Goan didn’t know what that meant at 19.
“The psychic I saw opened my eyes and made me realize the gifts that I had,” Goan said. “I think they were always there, but I kind of shut it down because of society and trying to fit into the world as a teenager.”
After that day, Goan continued to explore mediumship and grow her abilities over time. While she was working as a retailer, she was doing tarot readings on the side. During her 40-year career, Goan traveled to 40 different countries. Countries like China, India and Thailand were very accepting of her sidework.
As Goan grew her psychic abilities, her perspective on abuse changed. The people she would meet with for tarot readings were often victims of abuse. They came to her to seek guidance in their lives. According to the National Domestic Violence Hotline, an average of 24 people per minute experience domestic abuse.
“Whether mental, emotional, physical or sexual, abuse is much more common than people realize,” Goan said. “I think by having experienced it and healed through it, I can talk about it without regrets, anger, resentment or any of those feelings.”
Jenn’s abilities were not only about healing others, but also being able to heal herself. She was able to grow past her previous beliefs and find better meaning to her life. She no longer believes what her parents told her as a child.
“As I turned 18 and was getting out into the world, I had a very strong feeling that God was not to be feared,” Goan said. “God is love. And to me, that’s what white light energy is too. It’s love.”
After working over 40 years in the corporate world, she decided to settle down in Elburn and do intuitive healing full time. Goan does her tarot readings virtually from home and has hosted healing seminars in Portland, Oregon. She also posts videos on her YouTube channel, along with hosting live tarot sessions.
A fellow tarot professional, Lori Crawford from The Way of Positive Change, met Jenn through YouTube and became very close friends with her.
“Jenn understands energy that other people can’t see and knowledge that other people can’t hear,” Crawford said. “She is very funny, but she’s very logical at the same time. She’s very balanced with her left brain of logic and her right brain of intuition and psychic ability. That’s what makes her energy so light and mystical.”
Now that Jenn has been doing intuitive energy healing for almost 30 years, she believes that everyone has the ability to do the same.
“I believe we are all psychics,” Jenn said. “It just depends how much we all want to tune into it.”
